Padstow Kernow Players

Padstow Kernow Players and Cinema Club

We are delighted to announce that we will be re-starting the Cinema Club on Saturday 30thJuly.

We are inviting the Rainbows and Brownies, along with the younger members of our group, and children/grandchildren of Kernow Players and Cinema Club members, to the theatre for a Matinee of a popular children’s film and will be asking the Rainbow Fairy Queen and her attendants to officially re-open the theatre.

This will be a free event and ice cream will be provided.

The Matinee starts at 2pm and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

We also plan to then show a film in the evening for all members. This will start at 7:30pm.

Under our license agreement we are unable to advertise the name of the film but let’s just say it is the story of how one of the biggest rock bands of our time started out and ended up rocking Live Aid.

If you have not yet contacted me to let me know you wish to continue as a member of the Cinema Club/Kernow Players, or paid the subscription fee, then please do so before 9th July. Also, if you are a member and would like your child/grandchild to join in with this event thenplease let me know so we have an idea of how many people to expect.

Its nice to be back 😊

Judith Rowse (Secretary Kernow Players)

We are a small theatre company, situated in the heart of Padstow, which was originally formed over 60 years ago. 34 years ago we were offered the chance of buying our own premises, a
former Methodist Church Hall, and since then have worked hard to modernise our theatre with central heating, raised seating, new lighting and sound systems, and many other improvements.

We are entirely self funded, and we produce 3 or 4 shows each year, all of which help us to keep the theatre going. We have a dedicated band of performers, wardrobe mistresses (we hardly ever hire costumes!) and set builders. In a typical year we start with a pantomime in January/February, a play (usually a comedy) at Easter, a Summer Show (sometimes a full musical) and sometimes a childrens’ show in the Autumn. Our theatre is called the Little Theatre for a very good reason – we only seat 60 and we are pleased to say that for nearly all our shows, we sell out. We have a very loyal local following, and many visitors to Padstow come back year after year to see our shows.

We have a mailing list and regularly send out details of our forthcoming shows. We also need men! If you live locally and would like to be involved in a thriving group please do let us know – whether you would like to be on stage, or just helping out behind the scenes. Our theatre is situated in Barry’s Lane Padstow, just behind the Methodist Church and you can be sure that a warm welcome awaits you!

Our President is Sue Norfolk
